Abby Smith
Divorce & family lawyer St Neots
- I can help with:
- Divorce and separation
- Getting a fair financial settlement
- Seeing your children after you split
- Legal arrangements before you marry or live together
“My main objective when choosing to specialise in family law was to help people at a time when they need help the most. I always take time to listen to my client’s needs and then advise on a plan of action to suit their individual case. I am told by many clients that I am approachable, unflappable, organised and friendly. Clients also tell me that I have an ability to explain complex issues to them in a straight-forward, easy to understand way which in turn allows them to make informed decisions about their case.
My experience allows me to guide clients through the divorce process and assist them to gather the information needed to negotiate a financial settlement swiftly and amicably wherever possible. I can assist clients whether they are separating or divorcing, or are cohabitees going their separate ways. I have dealt with all types of financial cases from those where there are more debts than assets, to those where assets exceed £1m.
I also have experience in assisting clients at the start of their relationship by drafting pre-nuptial or living together agreements which can avoid any lengthy disputes if in the future the relationship breaks down.
I have a particular passion for assisting clients to resolve issues relating to their children. I have experience in dealing child relocation cases, both nationally and internationally. I have also helped grandparents and other family members in children cases.
As a family mediator I can apply my negotiation skills in all types of cases to assist couples to reach an agreement rather than resorting to court proceedings.
When I’m not working I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, and most weekends, come rain, snow or shine, I can be found at the side of a sports field watching either of my two children taking part in one of their many activities.”
Abby qualified as a Legal Executive in October 2003 and joined Woolley & Co in June 2014 from a national law firm.224317
