Kate is a family solicitor with Woolley & Co, based in Market Harborough, Leicestershire, covering all aspects of divorce and separation. As well as resolving disputes about children following separation, such as where the children should live and arrangements for contact with the absent parent, Kate tackles complex financial settlements. Kate helps clients across the UK and also works with many expats.
In 2017 and 2020 Legal 500 listed Kate as one of their Recommended Lawyers in the East Midlands, noting that Kate is a ‘very solid litigator when the case gets tough’. As a qualified mediator she is however also very able to negotiate settlements outside of the court room.
“Before becoming a lawyer, I had over ten years’ experience as a senior marketing professional, managing brands and virtual teams across Europe. This commercial experience has proved invaluable in negotiating favourable outcomes for clients where there have been financial disputes following divorce or separation. I’ve also advised on several high net worth cases including family businesses, inherited assets and farms.
My experience has encouraged me to adopt a practical and workable approach to finding solutions within what can be an extremely frustrating legal framework.
My approach is both pragmatic and realistic, keeping clients out of court whenever possible without ever compromising on the outcome. As a member of Resolution, I’m committed to using a non-confrontational approach in family matters. However, I do have extensive experience in dealing with court hearings on both a local and long distance basis.
I develop a strong empathy with my clients, listening carefully and explaining the law and legal jargon in a straightforward way. My clients always find me efficient, reliable and flexible.
With my husband and two children I enjoy walking, cycling, cooking and eating.”
Kate qualified as a solicitor in September 2007 and has been with Woolley & Co since August 2011. Before joining Woolley & Co Kate worked as a solicitor for firms in Warwickshire having had a first career in marketing with Shell Europe.
