Kate is a Northamptonshire-based divorce and family lawyer with Woolley & Co, Solicitors. She specialises in divorce and separation, financial settlements on divorce, children’s law (child contact and residence) as well working to find solutions in cohabitee disputes.
Kate is named as a Recommended Lawyer for Family Law in the East Midlands in the 2020 edition of Legal 500, where it is noted that ‘Kate Butler is extremely hard working and is robust in progressing her client’s cases. She is knowledgeable and pragmatic in her approach aiming to reach a settlement if that is in her client’s interest but prepared to fight hard within the court process if necessary’.
“I am keen to help couples at all stages of their relationship. That could be when you are preparing a prenuptial or living together agreement or trying to prevent disagreements if separation occurs later. I can guide couples through the process of divorce or marriage dissolution and seek to lessen the financial and emotional consequences of what can be a traumatic experience.
Mothers and fathers have both asked me to help support their children through the difficult times that separation and divorce can bring to a family. I’ve also represented other family members such as grandparents.
My experience includes all financial issues arising from the breakdown of relationships, including emergency remedies where necessary. Those relationships could be marriages, Civil Partnerships, or where the parties have not been married.
I would say I have a friendly and approachable manner, and take time to listen and understand the issues that affect my clients. Clients have commented that they value my sympathetic but forthright approach and ability to deal with challenging situations when required.
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, including my three boys.”
Kate qualified as a Legal Executive in September 1999, she joined Woolley & Co from a Coventry firm in April 2007.
